China is best known for undergoing various stages. These stages have been significant factors to the history of the country. China has had its share of ups and downs and various rulers and types of governing bodies to run the country in the best way that empowered people of their time deemed fit.
Also like other countries, each regime that took turns in running the country. These have served as varying stages that has helped mold China into what it is today. With each stage came a significant change that has been passed until today.
Expectedly, the primary years of the Song dynasty showed a period of change. Zhao Kuangyin seized power and forced then Emperor Gong to abdicate in his favor. Zhao established professional armies to control occasional military coups occurring back then.
With such focus aimed at protecting the walls, consecutive battles still ensued. Warlords from varied sources came and battled here and there and not until 976, most of these had come to an end.
The various stages that China has undergone are called Dynasties. This term best describes the regime of each time period. Among the known dynasties that this country has been exposed to, are the Qui and Sui Dynasties, times of early demise due to government?s tyrannical demands and burdening of taxes and compulsory labor.
The Tang dynasty (A.D. 618-907) is a highpoint for the country. This regime had various literary forms and a flowering creativity in many fields. These eventually became valuable cornerstones in the Song Dynasty of China.
The Song Dynasty (960-1279) was divided into two parts. The Northern Song (960-1127) and the Southern Song (1127-1279) are the divisions during this period. The reason for such a division was the abandonment of North China in 1127 for failing to be able to hold back their nomadic invaders during this time.
The birth of the Song dynasty helped in developing a shift from the usual military dominated government towards a civilian empowerment. This strengthened the new bureaucracy of the country. This would also eventually be handed down to succeeding generations that have lasted to this day.
The reign of emperors had started by this time. Autocratic control for government to strengthen and improve the governing administration was being practiced by this time. The process of recruiting people to fill up these positions improved as time passed to help build a more solid foundation for China.
Song dynasty is known for emphasizing proper spaces in the form of building for government and trade related endeavors. It served as a time to provide the merchants and commercial sectors known as gentry. Such monuments were a significant establishment for the new dynasty at hand.
This in turn, boosted and offered new opportunities for employment. In the same way, this allowed aspiring merchants to broaden their options outside the usual land and government occupation. With this inception, people had now more options to choose from to be able to gain wealth and success.
This dynasty also helped in improving previously developed cultural practices. Historical writings, paintings, and porcelain items were among the notable arts that were improved. The refinements made most of the arts from this generation priceless and collectibles today.
Interest in the literary works obviously stepped up to another level. This become inspiring and allowed a more active manner of understanding the arts of the country. China, known to be rich from the arts as well, benefited from this and such works are still sought after to this day.
Interest and focus of people were on the Confucian Classics by this time. Buddhism had a significant decline by this time and people were slowly shying away from it. Confucianism ideals and theories were looked up to for reforms and improvement of political and mundane issues.
Much of the history of such developments and reforms that China had taken during the Song Dynasty are critical aspects in the molding of the structure of the country today. Add this part along with the other contributions from other periods or regime of the country, there is no doubt that such time frames have various milestones to which most people can look back and distinguish the turning point in China?s total regime.
